Raspberry 3: Katie Bouman
After her doctoral degree, Katie Bouman joined the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration. It used data from eight international telescopes, to take the first ever image of a black hole, in the M87 galaxy. Bouman's imaging algorithm was important for interpreting the data into a complete image.
The Parallel Progress app
This article summarizes the To-Do/productivity app that I developed for iOS and tvOS.
Games, games, games
Last autumn I took a course in game development at Högskolan Väst, where I developed three small games in Unity: an apple picker, a helicopter game, and a cat catching game...
Raspberry 2: Grace Hopper
Grace was an amazing person, teaching mathematics before she joined the navy during World War II. She then got to work on one of the first big computers, as well as invented the first compiler. She was a hard-working computer scientist, having a position as a senior consultant even at the age of 85.
A mishmash of Objective-C and Swift
In 2013, I set out to learn Objective-C. However, in June 2014, Apple introduced a new programming language: Swift. That means that there are currently two options for making native iOS apps: sticking with the older and more established Objective-C or learning the new, hyped and (at that time) unstable Swift. I chose both...
Raspberry 1: Ada Lovelace
Ada used her imagination to understand and apply mathematical concepts. She translated the description of Babbage’s Analytical Engine, and was asked to add notes to the translation. The Notes contain what is considered the first computer program - which makes Ada the first programmer. Ada was an early visionary in computing, and she now inspires women in mathematics, science and technology, all over the world.
Maze Generation in Unity
I recently finished my first (ever) graphics project. It was conducted in Unity 5, were I used my graph theory and programming skills to generate navigable 3D mazes. The project was inspired by Adam Savage’s Overlook Hotel maze model, which is a detailed replica of the hedge maze architectural model from Stanley Kubrick’s film 'The Shining'.
